Do you want to become a Freemason ?
The precept that only wealthy, influential or successful individuals may join our Order and then strictly by “invitation only” is a misconception. In England at least, this is no longer so. Here people from all walks of life can now become a Freemason if they so wish and if they can pass scrutiny.
We raise funds mainly for Charities but can also act as a mutual society, for a small proportion of the money collected goes towards looking after our Brethren and their dependants in times of need.
So how much does it cost?
Membership usually includes a one-off joining fee of around £100.00 plus the cost of registering with U.G.L.E. – the United Grand Lodge of England – and registering with the Grand Lodge of the Province in which the applicant resides or works: £89.00. But this latter fee is halved if the applicant is younger than 25 years of age.
Then, every year, you will be asked by your own mother Lodge to pay a subscription fee that can be anything ranging from £100 upward, but it is usually in the region of £200.00 to £300.00. Such fee usually includes the cost of “dinner and wine” for four or so meetings a year.
We also have a very healthy social life outside our Lodge and when you will be able to participate with other Freemasons of all ages, to activities like sailing, shooting, walking and visiting places and building rich with historical heritage. Some Lodges are twinned with others both in UK and overseas ad so there is an annual opportunity to exchange visits both on an official and on a personal level.
You do not know how to be introduced to a Freemason?
We are connected with a very progressive Lodge in the Province of Middlesex and all you have to do in order to ask to be admitted is to send us an email or a Tweet with your request. We will be only too pleased to help you.
The video explains comprehensive how to go about applying admission into a Lodge and about the work that it will require from you once you are admitted. As a general guideline just substitute “Texas” with the Country in the world where you live/work and the much the same will be applicable.
